Chantal Forrest, yoga teacher

Chantal found yoga 8 years ago during a difficult time in her life when she was struggled with depression, anxiety, and addiction.  She says every time she stepped onto a yoga mat she became healthier & happier.  She decided to become a yoga teacher so that she could share the magic of yoga with others.

Chantal completed a 200 hr. yoga teacher training at Dallas Yoga Center in July 2016. In April, 2017, she became certified to teach Buti Yoga, which is a combination of yoga, music, and dance, in Burlington, VT.

Chantal is passionate about music and sings with a local band “Angels Unearthed”. She palys the guitar, ukelele, and digeridoo, and she is learning  the violin and the harmonium. Chantal enjoys leading meditations, ecstatic dances, and sound baths with crystal singing bowls.

Chantal is attending a Kundalini Yoga teacher training program at Pranashanti Yoga Studio in Ottawa. She will complete the 220 hr course in May 2019. According to Chantal, Kundalini Yoga is an uplifting blend of spiritual and physical practices. Kundalini Yoga incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, and the chanting of mantras, such as Sat Nam, meaning “truth is my identity.” The goal is to build physical vitality and increase consciousness, to experience your self deeply, and notice a transformation towards physical strength, heightened awareness, mental clarity, and happiness.

Chantal will teach two Community Yoga classes in the Kundalini style this winter, January 26 and February 23. Each class includes warm-ups, breathing techniques (pranayam), an exercise set (kriya), deep relaxation, chanting, and meditation.
